Always Shopping, the 2-1 post-time favorite, broke her maiden in the $100,000 Busanda Feb. 3 at Aqueduct Racetrack. She finished ahead of rivals Filly Joel and Miss Marilyn by a 1 1/4 lengths.

Filly Joel was a member of pace setters that run the opening quarter-mile in :23.91.

Always Shopping broke from the inside post, saved ground along the rail from fifth position, and was content to track the leaders through a half-mile in :48.52. Filly Joel continued to dictate the pace as Getting Warmer and Miss Marilyn was siting directly behind her down the back stretch. Filly Joel maintained her lead through the final turn, Always Shopping was waiting on the inside near the rail and began to reel in the leader with every stride. Always Shopping ran by Filly Joel near the quarter pole and secured the win in a final time of 1:52.24.

Filly Joel finished second, while Afleet Destiny ran third.

By winning the 1 1/8-mile Busanda Stakes, Always Shopping was awarded 10 points toward a berth in the Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1), on May 3 at Churchill Downs. Filly Joel was awarded 4 points and Miss Marilyn was awarded 2 points for the Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1).

The Busanda was the second race in the Oaks qualifying series at Aqueduct, the other race was the Grade II Demoiselle, on Dec. 1, which was won by Positive Spirit.
