Valedictorian won this race last year.  She finished second  in the Honey Fox (G3T) in her 2020 debut to begin her season.

Zofelle  won her first three starts in the United States, then had a difficult trip behind a race last month. She needs a decent pace and should have find a favorable pace setup in the race.

Getmotherarose needs a fast pace to setup her late rallying kick. She won the recent  Honey Fox winner who is third off the bench.

La Signare is cutting back in distance. She finished third in the recent The Very One Stakes (G3T).

J’s Top Three Picks:

  • Zofelle

Mean Mary is looking for her straight win in the Orchid. She will control the pace. She enters off a win in the La Prevoyante Stakes (G3T).  She will try to go gate-to-wire.

Elizabeth Way will try to keep up with pace from Post 12. She is 2-for-2 since coming over from Ireland. She took the The Very One (G3) here last month. She should be able to find a place on the board.

Gentle Ruler won four stakes at four tracks in 2019. She has the class to be in the mix at the wire.

J’s Top Three Picks:

  • Mean Mary
  • Gentle Ruler
  • Elizabeth Way

12 Sunset Promise  Florent Geroux Michael J. Maker 20/1
13 Four Grands  Luis Saez Dale L. Romans 10/1
14 Marialuisa  Santiago Gonzalez Juan Andres Rodriguez 30/1

Tonalist’s Shape won the first two races of the series at Gulfstream, the Feb. 1 Forward Gale Stakes (G3) and the Feb. 29 Davona Dale Stakes (G2), Tonalist’s Shape competed around one turn, as she did in three other starts. So the Gulfstream Park Oaks, a two-turn route at 1 1/16 miles, presents a new challenge. She has not yet raced beyond a mile.

Spice Is Nice  went off favored over Tonalist’s Shape in the Davona Dale, a race she finished. She flashed a 12-length maiden victory on Jan. 12 at Gulfstream. She was chasing the pace in the Davona Dale. She should improve off that race as she stretches out to two turns.

Swiss Skydiver  is taking a drop in class after finishing third in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G2). She should like the distance and will be following the pace setters around the first turn.

Lucrezia recorded wins in both the Sandpiper Stakes and Suncoast Stakes. She has posted solid works coming in to the race.

J’s Top Three Picks:

Race 12. Pan American. For Four Year Old and Up at 1 1 /2 miles on the turf. Purse $200,000.

8 Manicomio  Miguel Vasquez Agustin Bezara 30/1
9 Zulu Alpha  Tyler Gaffalione Michael Maker 3/5
10 Focus Group  Luis Saez Christophe Clement 8/1

Zulu Alpha with four graded stakes winners from his last four local appearances and coming off tremendous efforts in winning Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1T) and a second place finish the Mac Diarmida Stakes (G2T).  He likes to come from off the pace and make a big move turning for home. Zulu Alpha has a record of 11-4-5 from 32 starts and earnings of more than $2 million. He is the horse to beat.

Channel Cat  won the 2019 Bowling Green Stakes (G2T) and has had two months off since finishing fifth in the Pegasus Turf. His only win in 2019 was the Bowling Green Stakes (G2T) in July.

Focus Group is the defending Pan Am Stakes winner. He was recently purchased at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. He will be making his seasonal bow.

Current has not performed to expectations since winning the 2018 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes (G3T) at Keeneland and then finishing a disappointing seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T). He finished third in a March 6 allowance optional claiming test at Tampa Bay in his most recent effort, his first start since September. He should not be a factor at the wire.

Galleon Mast has only finished off the board in six of his 34 starts, however the Pan American will be his first start beyond 1 1/8 miles. He will not find a place on the board against this field.

J’s Top Three Picks:

  • Zulu Alpha

English Bee finished second in the Canadian Turf (G3T).

March to the Arch  won  Sunshine Millions Turf  in his debut this year. He was able to place third the Tampa Bay Stakes (G3T).

Dr. Edgar will try to go gate-to wire . He was able to capture the 2019 version of the race with his front-running style.

J’s Top Three Picks:

  • Sombeyay
  • March to the Arch
  • Dr. Edgar

Tiz the Law will rightfully be favored after taking the Holy Bull (G3) He won the Fasig-Tipton Fountain Of Youth (G2) in dominating wire-to-wire style. He is the talent in the field. The  four scratches will allow him to control his position on the rail. He won the first two starts of his career including the Champagne Stakes.

Independence Hall has acted up on more than one occasion. He may settle down with  of spectator-less surroundings. He recorded victories in victories in the one-turn Nashua Stakes and Jerome Stakes last year.

Gouverneur Morris ran on well for second in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) y off a debut sprint win last year. He won a first-level allowance condition in mid-February.

Candy Tycoon looks to be coming into form after a maiden victory followed by a runner-up finish in the Fountain Of Youth.

Ete Indien won the Fountain of Youth in dominating fashion from a far outside post, just like he landed for the Florida Derby. He’s 2-for-3 since switching to dirt.

 J”s Top Three Picks:

  • Ete Indien
  • Tiz the Law
  • Gouverneur Morris and Independence Hall
