Matera makes her debut on Sunday at Del Mar

Matera, by Tapit out of Miss Macy Sue, makes her debut this Sunday at Del Mar in Race 1. She is a 2yr old filly who is the half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner, Liam’s Map, standing at stud at Lane’s End, and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile runner up, Not This Time, standing at stud at Taylor Made. She was a $1.4million purchase at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale to Don Alberto. She is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and will have aboard Mike Smith.

Her most recent work was a .59.80 five furlong bullet from the gate at Del Mar on August 10. She is the morning line favorite at 8/5 leaving post position 1 against 6 competitors in a maiden race going 6 furlongs on the dirt.

Bob Baffert’s trainee Stellar Sound morning line is 9/5. She is by Tapit out of Siren Serenade. She is also making her debut in Race 1. Her most recent work was a 1:13.80 bullet going 6 furlongs from the gate on August 12 at Del Mar. She will break from position post 7 and will have aboard Drayden Van Dyke.

Both fillies are owned by Don Alberto Stable.

On paper this appears to be a Don Alberto Stable exacta.
