Review of Arlington Park Graded Stakes Turf Races on July 7

Arlington Park has four Graded Stakes turf races on their card for July 7th. The Graded Stakes races are: American Derby ,Grade III , Modesty Handicap , Grade III , Stars and Stripes, Grade III and Arlington Handicap, Grade III.

Race 5. American Derby Stakes, Grade III. For three-year-old males at 1 1/8 miles on turf. Purse $100,000.

Eight will race to establish themselves at the top of the 3-year-old turf division in the Grade III $100,000 American Derby at Arlington International Racecourse.

Ezmosh  won an Allowance turf race at the Fair Grounds on March 25th.  He won his last race the Arlington Classic Stakes, Grade III, going 1 1/16 on the turf on May 26th.

 

Dubby Dubbie has won his last two races. He most recent win was an Allowance Optional Claiming race at Churchill Downs going one mile on the turf on June 24th. His 2018 record for seven starts is 2-4-0 with earnings of $104,000.

 

Captivating Moon has been stakes-placed six times, and most recently was third in Canterbury Park’s Mystic Lake Derby on June 23 beaten 1½ lengths behind Sniper Kitten. He dead-heated for second in the American Turf Stakes, Grade II, at Churchill Downs on May 5th with multiple graded stakes winner Untamed Domain and was second beaten 5 1/4-lengths behind Analyze It in the Grade III Transylvania Stakes at Keeneland on April 6th. His 2018 record for 5 starts is 1-3-1 with earnings of  $117,950.

 

Pont Du Gard  finished second to Ezmosh by 2 1/2 lengths in the Arlington Classic. He won his debut race on July 7,2017 over the Arlington turf course. He won an Allowance race at the Fair Grounds on March 9th.

 

Tap Daddy went wire-to-wire for a 6 1/2-length victory in the $100,000 James W. Murphy Stakes on the Preakness Stakes (Grade I on Turf) at Pimlico Race Course on May 19th. He finished third but was placed second as a result of disqualification in the Dixiana Bourbon Stakes (Grade III) at Keeneland. In January he finished third in the Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park. Tap Daddy has won three of eight starts and has earned $243,654.

 

Kitten A Gettin only win was a  $16, 000 Maiden Claiming race On February 21st at Tampa Bay. He placed fifth in the Arlington Classic Stakes.

 

Proquestor is a lightly raced maiden with only 5 starts.

 

Real Story has stated 5 times. He won his last race an Allowance Optional Claiming race at Arlington Park on June 15th.

Race 6 . Modesty Handicap, Grade III. For three-year-old and up fillies and mares at 1 3/16 miles on turf. Purse $100,000.

The top three finishers in the Modesty Handicap will receive an entry into the Grade I Beverly D., Grade I, on Aug. 11. The Beverly D. is a “Win and You’re In” event for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Churchill Downs on Nov. 3.

Daddys Little Darling with purse earnings of $1,250,405, will be the mare to beat in the Modesty Handicap. She will be trying to record her first win of 2018. She was on the board in both the Bewitched Stakes, Grade III, at Keeneland and the New York Stakes, Grade III, at Belmont Park. this season. Last year, she had earnings in excess of $700,000 while posting from nine starts a record of 2-3-1. She won the American Oaks, Grade I, at Santa Anita Park going a 1 1/4 on turf.

Princess La Quinta in 2018 has won an Allowance race at Arlington Park and won   Arlington Matron, Grade III.  She ran second in the Chicago Handicap (Grade III) going seven furlongs. She is winless in ten tries over the turf.

Celestial Insight in her first start of 2018 finished second in the Mint Julep (Grade III) on June 9th.  Her career 14 start record is 4-3-1 with earnings of $210,000.

Church Social won her last race, an Allowance race at Churchill Downs on June 15th. This will be her first race facing Graded Stake competition. Her career 17 start record is 2-3-7 with earnings of $177,000.

Prado’s Sweet Ride in 2015 won the Grade III Regret Stakes , Grade III. going 1 1/8-miles at Churchill Downs on turf. In 2017, her record for nine starts was  2-3-2. In 2017, she won the Illini Princess Handicap at Hawthorne Race Course and the New Orleans Ladies Overnight Stakes at Fair Grounds. She finished third in her last out the Mike Spellman Memorial Handicap at Arlington Park on June 9th.

 

Majestic Angel is winless in her three starts in 2018. She finished sixth in the Santa Ana Stakes at Santa Anita on March 18th.

 

Oh So Terrible is winless in her two starts in 2018. She finished eight in the Chicago Handicap, Grade III, on June 23rd.

 

Go Baby Run broke her maiden at Golden Gate on June 2nd. She has started three times in 2018. She has never faced Graded Stake competition.

Harlan Strong in his out race finished second in the Louisville Handicap (Grade III) at Churchill Downs on May 19th. He won an Allowance race at Keenland on April 20th. His last two starts were at a mile and a half.

Canessar finished second in the two-mile Belmont Gold Cup (Grade II). He has wins going a mile and a half. He won the Laurel Turf Cup going a mile and a half and was third in the Sycamore (Grade III) last year.

Nessy ran at two miles at Belmont Park on June 8th. He won the San Juan Capistrano Stakes, Grade III at Santa Anita going mile and a half. He was on the board in his two other Graded Stakes races this year.

Slim Shadey has won his last two race on the turf at Belmont Park against  Allowance Optional competition. He is winless in five starts going a mile and a half.

Cartoon has only raced ten times in his career.  He finished in last race , his first in 2018, the Louisville Handicap (Grade III). He won an Allowance race at Keeneland in October.

Synchrony, M/L favorite at 6/5, has never missed the being board in turf races. He finished third in Old Forester Turf Classic, Grade I on Turf ,at Churchill Downs on May 5th. He won the Muniz Memorial Handicap, Grade II, at the Fair Grounds on April 24th. He also won the Fair Grounds Handicap, Grade III, at the Fair Grounds on February 17th. His 2108 record for three starts is 2-0-1 with earnings of $318,000.

Compass Zone makes his first start against Grade Stakes competition. He finished second in his last out in an Allowance race going a mile and an eighth.

Divisidero finished second in his 2018 debut in Monmouth Stakes, Grade II on Turf, on May 26th. He is a multiple Grade I winner. He finished fourth in the Wise Dan Stakes, Grade II on Turf, at Churchill Downs on June 16th. His last win was in Woodford Reserve Turf Classic in 2017.

Revved finished fourth in his last race, an Allowance race going 1 1/8 miles.

Twenty Four Seven is entered in both the Arlington Handicap and Stars and Stripes Stakes. In 2018 he has won Allowance race at Arlington Park. He has not faced this type of competition.
