The latest prize Abel Tasman is looking to add to her stakes collection on August

25, when the 2017 champion 3-year-old filly takes on five challengers in the $700,000 Personal Ensign Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.

This race appears to be a match race between Abel Tasman and Elate.

Abel Tasman is a four-time Grade I winner. She was able to out run Elate in the Coaching Club American Oaks. She easily won by 7 1/2 lengths the Grade I Ogden Phipps Stakes at Belmont Park.

Elate is a two-time graded stakes winner at 1 1/4 miles and should have no trouble with the distance. She likes performing at Saratoga. She won the Grade I Alabama Stakes at Saratoga last summer. She recently won the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap.

The race should start down the back stretch between the two fillies. They should hook-up around the final turn. Elate should be able to out kick Abel Tasman down the lane.

Multiple graded stakes winner Farrell is a threat to knock off the top two after holding on by a neck to beat Wow Cat in the July 29 Shuvee Stakes (Grade III) at Saratoga.

Our Top Three Picks:

  • Elate
  • Abel Tasman
  • Farrell
