Fahan Mura will get a class break when she takes on seven other fillies and mares. She finished off the board in the Matriarch Stakes (G1T). After four straight wins at Santa Anita in claiming and optional-claiming allowance races at the beginning of the year, Fahan Mura made the jump to graded stakes but finished sixth in the New York Stakes (G2T). She won the Osunitas Stakes and then placed third in the John C. Mabee (G2T). She won the  Swingtime Stakes at Santa Anita and she ran second the Goldikova Stakes (G2T).

Escape Clause finished third in her first graded stakes the 1 3/8-mile Red Carpet Stakes (G3T). She won eight straight races in Manitoba, Alberta, and Minnesota. She won by disqualification the Kathryn Crosby Stakes at Del Mar. Escape Clause has 18 wins from 26 starts.

Excellent Sunset ran first in the Kathryn Crosby but was disqualified to second. Excellent Sunset finished eighth in the Matriarch and has two wins from five starts since coming to the U.S. from the U.K.

Sweet Charity ran third Kathryn Crosby. Sweet Charity raced in France before her first race in the U.S. at the beginning of 2017. Her best finish was running third in the  12 Santa Ana Stakes (G2T).

Fahan Mura is going to the front, and it’s up to the others to try and reel in the  morning-line favorite. She ran third in the John C. Mabee (G2T) in one previous attempt at nine furlongs. She should like the turf course grass at Santa Anita, where she is 5-1-0 from six starts, She set the early pace in the Matriarch (G1T). She has started 19 times in 2017-18. She faded in the Matriarch suggests she could need a rest. If she runs close to her ability, that should be good enough for another victory. Is she fades then Escape Clause should be there to take home a win.
