Robert Lewis Stakes Entries:

PP Horse Jockey Trainer M/L
1 Kid Cantina Geovanni Franco Librado Barocio 20/1
2 Magnificent McCool Flavien Prat Doug O’Neill 8/1
3 Easy Shot Rafael Bejarano Keith Desormeaux 8/1
4 Gunmetal Gray Mike E. Smith Jerry Hollendorfer 9/5
5 Mucho Gusto Joseph Talamo Bob Baffert 8/5
6 Nolo Contesto Joel Rosario John Sadler 5/2

Mucho Gusto has a significant pace advantage over the rest of this field. He could take this field gate- to – wire, much like he did in his maiden special weight. If he handles the expected off track, then he will be tough to beat.

Gunmetal Gray won the Grade III Sham Stakes.  He likes to sit off the pace and out kick the pace setters around the final turn. Being a gray horse, an off track and a hot pace might really help him because he will need the front runners to be slowing down when he makes his kick. He should be on the board.

Nolo Contesto won a maiden special weight while going 8 furlongs at Santa Anita in his second race. He recorded a 104 speed figure for that contest. If he can repeat that number it will make him competitive with the top two, and if he likes the sloppy conditions , he can be competitive and be in the top four.

Magnificent McCool has been on the board in three out of four starts before  breaking his maiden his last time out on the turf at Santa Anita going 1 1/8 miles. . He has started six times and has earnings of $60,845. He’s not at the same class level as the top three entries. He has a chance of being on the board, but not a factor at the wire.

Easy Shot after breaking his maiden against claimers, he was entered into  the Grade 3 Sham Stakes, where he finished a well-beaten fifth. He’s not at the same class level as the top three entries. He has a chance of being in the top four, but not a factor at the wire.

Kid Cantina is winless in two dirt starts. He’s not at the same class level as the top three entries. He has a small chance of being in the top five, but not a factor at the wire.
