Heart to Heart, seeks his third consecutive graded stakes win, should be the betting favorite in the Shoemaker Mile. Heart to Heart comes off a gate to wire win in the Maker’s 46 Mile Stakes at Keeneland April 13. He won the Gulfstream Park Turf Stakes on February 10. He was third beaten three quarters of a length in last year’s Shoemaker Mile by Bat a Ball.

Bowies Hero was an upset winner of the Grade I Frank E. Kilroe Mile turf at Santa Anita Park on April 21. He also a won the Mathis Brothers Mile on December 26 and has six wins from nine tries at a mile on turf.

Om and Heart to Heart faced off in the Marker’s Mile at Keeneland on April 13. Om finished fourth, beaten 2 ¼ lengths by Heart to Heart. Om won the Thunder Road Stakes at Santa Anita Park on February 10. Om has recorded three wins over the Santa Anita Park turf.

Next Shares was second in the Grade I Frank E. Kilroe Mile at Santa Anita Park’s turf on March 10. Next Shares has faced Om and Heart to Heart in Marker’s Mile at Keeneland on turf. He was 4 1/4 lengths behind Heart to Heart and 2 lengths behind Om in the Marker’s Mile at Keeneland. He has a great kick but needs a fast pace to have a chance of winning.

This will be Hunt’s first race since winning the Seabiscuit Handicap at 1 1/16 miles on turf at Del Mar in November. Hunt needs a fast pace to have a chance of winning. The long layoff could be another factor that he needs to overcome to have a chance of winning.

Heart to Heart, Blackjackcat and Om should be near the front going down the backside. These three should duel it out turning for home. Bowies Hero will join the leaders down the stretch. Bowies should be able to catch Om and Blackjackcat near the quarter pole.  Heart to Heart should be able to hold off Bowies Hero for the win.

Out top three picks are:

Heart to Heart

Bowies Hero

Om
