Most American thoroughbred fans have never heard of the Australian turf phenom mare named Winx. Winx is the champion turf horse of the world, recently winning the Agency George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehil. This was Winx’s 24th consecutive win, which also increased her number of Group 1 wins to 17, surpassing the Group 1 record of 16 set by John Henry in 1984.
She needs to win her next race, Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on April 14, to match the 25 consecutive win record of Black Caviar.
Winx, is a seven-year-old mare by Street Cry out of Vegas Showgirl by Al Akbar, has now won 28 of her 34 starts and with three second places with stakes earning of $16,563,925. She was purchased as a yearling by Magic Bloodstock for $241,569 at the Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2013.
Winx is trained by Chris Walker and owned by Magic Bloodstock Racing and RG Treweeke and Mrs. D N Keptis.

Winx’s is now one Group One win away for setting the record that is currently held by Black Caviar, who retired unbeaten. The current record is 18 Group One wins.
